Do I Have to Drive to Memphis for Botox?

No. If you live in Tipton or Lauderdale County, you don't.

A lot of people around here assume that medical aesthetics means Germantown, Collierville or East Memphis, and that anything closer to home must be a step down. It's an understandable assumption, and it's worth looking at what you actually need before you spend an afternoon on Highway 51.

What actually matters in an injector

Four things, and none of them is a zip code. A licensed medical professional should assess your face and do the injecting. A physician should oversee the practice. The product should come directly from the manufacturer. And there should be enough time in the appointment for a real conversation about your anatomy, your goals and your medical history before anyone picks up a syringe.

If a practice can show you all four, it's worth considering, wherever it is. If it can't, the address doesn't fix that.

What the drive really costs you

The treatment itself is quick. The drive is the long part. From Covington, Memphis is a 45 to 60 minute drive each way, and it's longer still from Ripley, Halls or Henning. A short appointment becomes most of an afternoon.

It also isn't one trip. Tox can take up to two weeks to show its full effect, and for most people it's maintenance, repeated every three to four months. If you have a question afterward, or need to be seen again, a short drive is the difference between coming in and letting it go.

Who you'll see here

At Sunshine Spa & Aesthetics, I do your injectables myself. I'm a registered nurse, and the practice works under the medical oversight of Dr. Noah Ehinger, MD, Board Certified Cosmetic Surgeon.

We offer Botox and Jeuveau, purchased directly from the manufacturers. Which one, how much and where are decided after an assessment, and sometimes the honest answer is less than you expected, or not yet.

When Memphis is the right call

Sometimes it is. If you already have an injector there you trust and the drive doesn't bother you, stay with them. Consistency with one provider is worth a lot.

And some things are outside what we do. If you need a surgical consultation, or if I see a skin condition that hasn't been diagnosed or anything else at your assessment that should be looked at first, I'll tell you so and point you to the right provider.
