When to Book Treatments Before the Holidays

Every December, someone calls the week before a party hoping to be ready for it. For some treatments, that is too late. It isn't that we can't see you. Your skin needs time.

Here is how to count back from the date that matters to you, and what can still be done close to it.

Why timing matters

Two reasons. Results develop. Skin needs time to settle, and some treatments keep improving for weeks.

And there can be healing days. Swelling, redness, a bruise or some peeling are all ordinary after certain treatments. They pass. You just don't want them in the family photo.

Four to six weeks: filler, lips, peels and microneedling

For filler, including lips, and for chemical peels and microneedling, plan on four to six weeks before your event.

That window gives swelling and any bruising time to clear and the result time to settle. It also leaves room to see you again if something needs a small adjustment. If your plan is a series of treatments, start earlier still.

At least two weeks: tox

Tox doesn't work the day it's done. Allow at least two weeks for it to take effect and settle.

If it is your first time, give yourself more room than that. You'll want to see how it looks on you before an event, not at one.

Dates to work back from

Thanksgiving, November 26. Filler, lips, peels and microneedling: no later than October 29. Tox: by November 12.

Christmas, December 25. Filler, lips, peels and microneedling: start by November 13, and no later than November 25. Tox: by December 11.

New Year's Eve, December 31. Filler, lips, peels and microneedling: start by November 19, and no later than December 3. Tox: by December 17.

"Start by" is six weeks out. "No later than" is four. For Thanksgiving, that means now.

Up to two days before: a facial and dermaplaning

If you've missed those windows, there is still plenty we can do. A facial and dermaplaning can be done up to two days before your event. We choose the products used in your facial based on what your skin needs, and red light can be added to any service.

These can be paired in a plan built for you. Come in and we'll talk it through.

At home: start two weeks out

This time of year is hard on skin. Cold wind outside and indoor heat inside make for a very drying mix. If you don't have a good routine now, start one at least two weeks before your event. We recommend home care based on your skin, the same way we choose the products for your facial.

Start with a consultation

If you're new to us, a consultation comes first. We go through your health history, look at your skin and talk about what may fit your goals and your calendar. Bring your dates.
